Unleashing your dog’s potential FAQs
Let me answer your questions. If you don’t see the answer you’re looking for get in touch.
What makes your dog training different from traditional training?
My approach isn’t just about obedience commands—it’s about understanding your dog as a whole. I integrate training into daily life using real-world scenarios, focusing on positive reinforcement, canine fitness, and Dynamic Dog practices while considering your dog’s L.E.G.S.® (Learning, Environment, Genetics, and Self). This comprehensive method helps dogs develop naturally and effectively without harsh methods, ensuring they feel understood and supported.
What is L.E.G.S.®, and how does it help my dog?
L.E.G.S.® (Learning, Environment, Genetics, and Self) is a framework that recognizes how each dog’s behavior is shaped by their past experiences, surroundings, breed traits, and individual personality. By considering all of these factors, I create personalized training and fitness plans that truly fit your dog’s unique needs.
Do I need to have a specific training schedule?
No! My programs ideally fit into your daily routine so that training becomes a natural part of life. Instead of setting aside time for rigid sessions, we make small adjustments in how you interact with your dog throughout the day, creating lasting changes with minimal effort.
Why does my dog need to learn more?
Sit and stay are great behaviors, especially when you add distractions. However, when you get frustrated that your dog is sitting and staying and whining for food in the kitchen you might find value in expanding your dog training toolbox. Many other training programs offer ‘basic obedience’ programs, but how do these basics help you with your everyday problems? I give you the tools you need to communicate more effectively and efficiently with your dog to help solve your everyday behavior issues and build that lifelong bond every dog owner wants.
Is your training only for reactive dogs?
No, my programs work for all dogs! While I specialize in helping reactive dogs, I also support puppies, senior dogs, and active dogs needing life skills and enrichment. My approach benefits any dog by focusing on their L.E.G.S.®, fitness, and overall well-being.
How does canine fitness benefit my dog?
Canine fitness isn’t just about exercise—it’s about enhancing strength, mobility, and overall well-being. It helps prevent injuries, supports physical health, and even improves behavior by reducing anxiety and frustration. Fitness keeps dogs engaged, strengthens their bodies, and provides a productive outlet for their energy, creates a great way to bond and have fun together.
What is Dynamic Dog and how does it help my dog?
Dynamic Dog training takes a holistic approach, focusing on both your dog’s physical and emotional well-being. Through a detailed Dynamic Dog Assessment, I evaluate your dog’s movement, posture, and overall health to ensure that discomfort or pain isn’t impacting their behavior. This method uncovers any underlying issues that might be contributing to frustration, anxiety, or reactivity. By addressing these physical and emotional needs, we can create a tailored plan that supports your dog’s overall health and happiness. If necessary, I also collaborate with veterinarians to ensure your dog receives the best care and support.
Can fitness training help with my dog’s behavior issues?
Yes! Fitness training helps build confidence, reduce stress, and engage your dog mentally. Many behavior problems stem from frustration, discomfort, or lack of stimulation. Fitness provides a healthy outlet for energy and builds resilience, making your dog happier, more balanced and enjoying the time with you.
How do you assess my dog’s needs for training?
I use my Dynamic Dog certification and the L.E.G.S.® framework to evaluate your dog’s behavior, movement, and overall health. This allows me to create a plan that integrates training and fitness, ensuring your dog’s unique physical and emotional needs are met.
How long will it take to see results?
Every dog is different, but many owners notice positive changes within weeks. Because my programs integrate into daily life, improvements happen naturally over time.
Can I do training and fitness online?
Yes! I offer virtual coaching and fitness programs, so you can train your dog from the comfort of your home. Online sessions provide customized guidance to help you implement training and fitness exercises tailored to your dog’s needs without changing the picture each session.
Do you offer programs for puppies?
Yes! My programs are individual focused, so it doesn’t matter age, puppies can be early fitness, enrichment, and confidence-building to set a strong foundation for a well-balanced adult dog. Training starts with understanding your puppy’s L.E.G.S.® and helping them develop into a happy, healthy companion.
How do I know which program is right for my dog?
I offer consultations to assess your dog’s needs based on behavior, fitness level, and lifestyle. Whether your dog needs behavioral support, fitness training, or a combination of both, I’ll create a program tailored to their unique L.E.G.S.® and abilities.
What if my dog has physical limitations or past injuries?
That’s where my canine fitness and Dynamic Dog assessments come in! I tailor fitness programs to support dogs with mobility issues, past injuries, or conditions like arthritis, helping them stay active and comfortable while addressing any limitations.
How does not walking my reactive dog actually help?
Many reactive dogs struggle because traditional walks put them in overwhelming situations. Instead of forcing stressful outings, I provide fitness, enrichment, and alternative exercise to meet your dog’s needs without triggering unwanted behaviors.
Can this approach help dogs who struggle with confidence or anxiety?
Yes! Building physical strength and body awareness through fitness and enrichment boosts confidence. Many anxious dogs feel more secure when they gain better control over their movement and environment and having simple wins makes them feel better and that they can do other things.
What if I’ve tried other training programs and they didn’t work?
Many of my clients have felt frustrated with traditional training methods. My L.E.G.S.®-based approach looks at your dog’s individual needs, movement, and emotions rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method. Many dogs labeled as “stubborn” or “reactive” are actually struggling with underlying physical issues. Addressing these factors often leads to breakthroughs where other training has failed.
How do I get started?
The best way to start is by booking a call! We’ll discuss your dog’s unique behavior, fitness, and daily life to create a plan that helps both of you feel more confident and connected.
